Pittsburgh, June 1, 2001 -- Cairn Marsh, 5G unit nurse, was selected as this year's UPMC Presbyterian respresentative to the Cameos of Caring Awards Gala presented by the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. The gala recognizes outstanding bedside nurses for their commitment to quality patient care, role model stature and patient advocacy. Nurses from 29 western Pennsylvania hospitals are selected for the gala scheduled for October 6 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh.
Created by Dean Ellen B. Rudy in 1999, the Cameos of Caring Awards Gala has become the premier nursing event in western Pennsylvania and has received national and international attention. Each awardee at the gala receives a hand-blown glass sculpture specifically created for the Cameos of Caring Awards Gala by sculptor and nurse Judith Strellec Charlson, a 1966 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing.
The proceeds from the gala will be used to establish the Cameos of Caring Scholarship Fund. This scholarship will offer the opportunity for nurses to advance their nursing education at the undergraduate or graduate level. Tickets to this black-tie optional event are available for $75 per person. |
