Pittsburgh, May 18, 2001 -- Elizabeth Tyler-Kabara, MD, PhD, fourth-year resident, has been selected as the 2001 Neuro ICU Resident of the Year at UPMC Presbyterian. Dr. Tyler-Kabara was cited for her "outstanding contribution" to patients and families and for demonstrating "unfailing commitment to quality in the care that she provides."
One ICU staff member stated Dr. Tyler-Kabera "takes into consideration all aspects of the health care team and never loses perspective of the big picture."
Another commented, "I have seen her take time at the end of a very long day, on numerous occasions, and sit and talk to family members. She is available to nursing staff as a resource and responds to requests from staff."
Dr. Tyler-Kabara completed her bachelor's degree in biomedical and electrical engineering at Duke University, graduating cum laude. After completing her undergraduate studies she returned to the Division of Computer Research and Technology at the National Institutes of Health where she completed projects begun during a summer internship and assisted with setting early computer networking policy. She completed her M.D. and Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University. |
