Dr. Kevin Foley Speaks on Lumbar Spine Surgery

Pittsburgh, November 6, 2003 -- Kevin Foley, MD, associate professor of neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee, Memphis spoke on "Minimally Invasive Lumbar Spine Surgery," Wednesday, November 5 at the Duquesne Club as part of the department's visiting professor lecture series.

Dr. Foley serves as director of Complex Spine Surgery at Semmes-Murphey Clinic, director of the Spine Fellowship Program for the University of Tennessee Department of Neurosurgery, and medical director for both the Medical Education & Research Institute and the Image-Guided Surgery Research Center. He also holds academic appointments at the University of Tennessee School of Biomedical Engineering and the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.

Dr. Foley's lecture was preceeded by a reception and dinner attended by faculty, residents and guests.

Dr. Foley also presented two lectures ("Randomized, Prospective, Controlled Clinical Trial of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Stimulation for Cervical Fusion" and Biomechanics of Single-Level Anterior Cervical Discectomy: Fusion Versus Disc Replacement") in the department's main conference room as part of the department's Wednesday afternoon conferences.
