Pittsburgh, June 1, 2004 -- Ian Pollack, MD, was appointed chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh July 1, 2004. Dr. Pollack has been with the University of Pittsburgh since 1992. He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and served a residency and research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Pollack served a Van Wagenen Traveling Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada; the University of Lausanne, Switzerland; and the University of Uppsala, Sweden.
Dr. Pollack serves as professor of neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is also co-director of the University of Pittsburgh's Brain Tumor Center and holds the Walter Dandy Professorship in Neurosurgery at the medical school. He has been a key member of the neurosurgery team at Children's Hospital since 1992.
A. Leland Albright, MD, the former chief of the Children's Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery, is neither leaving Children's nor retiring -- he merely is stepping down as chief. Dr. Albright joined the division in 1981 and has served ably and well as chief of pediatric neurosurgery since 1992. At the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he is a professor of neurological surgery, Dr. Albright holds the Children's Neurosurgery Chair. At the time of his retirement, this chair will bear Dr. Albright's name. |
