Kassam/Snyderman Endonasal Brain Surgery Approach Featured on NBC Nightly News

The innovative minimally invasive surgical technique of performing brain surgery through the nose refined by Amin Kassam, MD, associate professor of neurological surgery, and Carl Snyderman, MD, associate professor of otolaryngology, was featured on NBC-TV's Nightly News, Tuesday, June 21. The procedure, dubbed the Expanded Endonasal Approach (EEA), was part of a week-long series the network produced showcasing new frontiers in medicine.

With the Expanded Endonasal Approach, neurosurgeons can remove once inoperable brain tumors by accessing the brain through the nasal cavities. This approach affords the patient an early discharge from the hospital with no incisions or scars and few, if any, lingering side effects.
