Pittsburgh, November 1, 2006 – Naman A. Salibi, MD, MSc, has joined the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery faculty as a clinical assistant professor effective November 1. He will work closely with Joseph Maroon, MD, and his colleagues at Tri-State Neurosurgical Associates seeing patients in the southern and western tiers of the UPMC service area. His primary interest is in
spinal surgery including arthroplasty and minimally invasive spinal techniques.
Dr. Salibi, 56, comes to the university with 22 years experience in academic and clinical neurosurgery. Most recently he was senior neurosurgeon at from Dhahran Health Center in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia where he helped establish the first neurospinal services unit in the Middle East.
Dr. Salibi, certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in May of 1987, earned his MD degree from the American University of Beirut where he also served his neurosurgery residency. He earned his MSc degree in neurophysiology from Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY.
Dr. Salibi is married and has eight children. The oldest three are currently enrolled at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH, and the younger five live with him and his wife in Wexford, PA.
Tri-State Neurosurgical Associates is a community arm of the Department of Neurological Surgery offering clinical services in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia. It is headed by Dr. Maroon, and also includes Adnan Abla, MD, Matt El-Kadi, MD, PhD, and Daniel Wecht, MD.
