Pittsburgh, December 10, 2009 -- PGY-3 resident Kristen E. Jones, MD, received the best presentation award at the fifth annual Department of Neurological Surgery Stuart Rowe Society Lectureship and Research Day held December 9.
Jone's presentation, entitled "Functional Imaging Localization as Replacement for Intracranial EEG for Preoperative Planning Modality in Epilepsy Patients: Analysis of Surgical Outcomes," was one of 10 research lectures presented by department residents during the day intended to honor Stuart Niles Rowe, the department’s first chairman and an early advocate of broad neurosurgical training.
In her presentation, Dr. Jones especially thanked former UPMC pediatric neurosurgeon P. David Adelson, MD, as a key mentor in developing the presentation and for obtaining the patient data.
