Muncie, Ind., July 10, 2016 -- Joseph C. Maroon, MD, Heindl Scholar in Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh and noted sports and medicine expert, finished first in his division (M75-79) at the Muncie Ironman 70.3 Competition held July 9 in Muncie, Ind. The event consisted of a 1.2-mile open water swim, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-run.
Dr. Maroon has completed over 80 triathlons of varying distances, eight of which have been Ironman World Championship races (2.4 mile swim; 112 mile bike; 26.2 mile run). He is currently ranked second nationally and fourth globally in his age group.
