Pittsburgh, September 9, 2016 -- Ajay Niranjan, MD, MBA, professor of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and associate director of the Center for Image-Guided Neurosurgery, has been selected to receive the Allen Humphrey Excellence in Mentoring Award from the University of Pittsburgh. The award is presented to a Deans Summer Research (DSRP) mentor who demonstrated exemplary care and commitment in all aspects of DSRP student mentoring. Dr. Niranjan mentored two students working on projects this past summer.
The award is named in the honor of Dr. Allen Humphrey, a distinguished researcher and highly regarded Medical Student Research Dean who retired from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. Dr. Humphrey served as both the director for the Deans Summer Research Program as well as a Scholarly Research Project director since 2007.
The award will be presented at the annual Deans Summer Research Symposium to be held on Monday, October 3rd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in room S100 of the Biomedical Science Tower South.
