Jannetta Symposium

Peter J. Jannetta Symposium

On Saturday, April 8, 2017, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Department of Neurological Surgery will host the inaugural Peter J. Jannetta Symposium, highlighting the history and future of innovations in the field of neurological surgery.

Dr. Peter Jannetta, long-time former chairman of the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery, was a giant in the field of neurosurgery. He was internationally acclaimed for his development of microvascular decompression (MVD), an innovative procedure that moved blood vessels away from the trigeminal nerve, alleviating chronic pain and spasms in facial muscles. The procedure became commonly known as the ‘Jannetta Procedure’ and brought relief to thousands.

Dr. Jannetta passed away this past year. The Peter J. Jannetta Symposium will celebrate the memory of Dr. Jannetta by taking a look at today's innovations in the field and examining where these innovations will take us.

The presenting sponsor for the event is The Jannetta Society of The Jannetta Neuroscience Foundation.

CME Credit will be available.
