Pittsburgh, May 20, 2024 -- Jeffrey Balzer, PhD, associate professor of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and director of clinical operations at the UPMC Center for Clinical Neurophysiology, was awarded the Richard Brown Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Neurophysiological Monitoring this past weekend at the organization's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
The award is the highest honor the ASNM bestows and represents outstanding achievement during the recipient's career supporting and advancing the field and the society through education, research and service. The award is named in honor of Richard Brown, PhD, founding member of the ASNM and one of the first to use IONM during scoliosis surgery in the United States.
