Pittsburgh, February 18, 2020 -- PGY-5 resident Matthew Pease MD, has been awarded the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Scholarship in Data Science for 2020-21. This is the inaugural year for the scholarship and is designed to provide residents with structured mentorship in the use of advanced data science techniques, including artificial intelligence, for research and practice improvement in neurosurgery.
Dr. Pease will utilize the award in completing his project involving radiomic techniques to identity pathology based on MRI. Pascal Zinn, MD, PhD, will serve as Dr. Pease’s mentor for this project. Upon completion of his work, Dr. Pease’s work will be submitted for presentation at the 2021 CNS annual meeting in Austin, Texas, and for publication in the journal Neurosurgery.
