Louisa attended Pennsylvania State University from 1989-93 earning a bachelor of science degree in biology. She completed post baccalaureate courses at New York Medical College from 1994-96 and completed the physician assistant program at Quinnipiac College in 1997, graduating with a masters degree in health science.
Louisa served as a physician assistant with the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurosurgery from 1997-2012, working with prominent neurosurgeons within the spine section specializing in surgical pain management and spine disorders. During that time, she published two papers and multiple abstracts with research in brain tumors and pain management.
In 2012, Louisa took an extended leave of absence to be at home with family but returned to the department in September of 2022 working in the UPMC Center for Image-Guided Neurosurgery.
